Local Fostering at the Sunny Worthing Awards – 17th February 2017
Sunny Worthing is a group dedicated to promoting the positive side of Worthing and have established an annual awards event to recognise companies, charities and community groups in the local area.
This year we were delighted to have been shortlisted from hundreds of nominations in the ‘Children’s Development’ category. Worthy winners on the night were Gymco; a gymnastics company that does some fantastic work with children and young people.
We were also very proud to be presenting the award for best ‘Grass Roots Project’. This went to the amazing Worthing Park Run.

Local Fostering has always aimed to be an agency that has strong links with the local community so we were so pleased to be in the running for this award. It highlights for us the importance of local networking, having knowledge of community issues and striving to make a difference to local families.
Joined by Dan, a local events entrepreneur, and founder of ‘Tot Rockin’ Beats’, events designed for families with young children which have been extremely popular in Sussex.
We went as Local Fostering but we managed to sneak in some Fostering People colours!
Our type of work is very rarely recognised outside of the fostering world and as such, we were the only children’s social care service to feature in all 13 categories, despite there being several organisations in the area. So for us, we were always winners and extremely proud to be nominated.
This will be the last event we attend as Local Fostering as our merger with Fostering People is complete, but we will be continuing with our shared ethos of keeping local matters at heart and providing a local service to our foster carers, local authorities and most importantly, our children.
